Yingli College Longleng take up gender issues

A one day seminar on “gender issues: prospects, challenges and strategies” was organised on August 7 by the department of Economics, Yingli College, Longongkang Campus, Longleng.

A press release by the college said that in a welcome speech, Yingli College, principal, K. Hekheto Sumi highlighted the importance of gender equality from the global perspective and also raised various vital issues and concerns related to gender issues in India.

The inaugural session chaired by assistant professor (department of economics), Konchem, and began with the special song by Ngamshing Phom. A keynote address was delivered by HoD (department of economics), Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Jha while the session rapporteur was assistant professor (department of history), Dikhrou Dianu.

The first technical session was chaired by assistant professor (department of political science), Dr. Toli Achumi, six papers were presented in the session and the rapporteur was assistant professor (department of education), Nurul Islam.

The second technical session was chaired assistant professor (department of sociology), Dr. Vizolenuo Sophie and the rapporteur of the session was HoD (department of English), Dr. Sunil Kumar and five papers were presented in the session.

The valedictory session began with the welcome speech by Yingli College, vice principal, Dr. B. Henshet Phom, who reflected upon the various issues and challenges confronted by the prevailing social, economic and political system that contribute to gender inequality in India. 

The session was chaired by Thsingvi T. Sangtam, a seminar report was presented by assistant professor (department of English), Dr. Ajay Kumar Kumar Chowdhary and vote of thanks was given by assistant professor (department of Economics), Lochumbeni P Shitiri.
