The Dimapur Youth Fest 2018, under the theme ‘Youth Towards a Progressive Society’ began on Friday at DDCS stadium, Dimapur.

The fest has been organized by Ethnic Group of Nagaland (EGoN) in collaboration with M/s MW Enterprise.

A press release from EGoN stated that it was officially inaugurated by special guest, Naga Hoho president, Chuba Ozukum.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that though not everyone would win first place, but the coming together and participation mattered.

Touching diverse topics in his speech from digital media to corruption in society, he said that it was time that the youth work hard to bring peace. Ozukum opined that with peace, everything else would fall together but to attain this, corruption needed to be eliminated.

On the occasion, he also admonished the youth for spewing negativity on social media, saying that the youth were not appreciative of anything and were always ready to criticize.

During the program, 17 contestants, competing for the crown of Miss Dimapur 2018 this year, put up a vibrant show. Members of Nagaland Motorcycle Club, led by chief Sanen Jamir, were also present on the occasion.

The inaugural program was chaired by EGoN general secretary Watila Rashmi, and invocation prayer was delivered by pastor Yanger Aier of John Mission Ministry, Dimapur. The fest will culminate on August 25.
