Yimchungrü Tribal Council (YTC) has appealed to the State PWD (National Highway) authority to immediately restore National Highway-202 (NH-202), which remained cut off near High Bridge (Shungkiu) since July 22, 2018.

In an open letter to chief engineer PWD (National Highway) Nagaland, YTC vice president, Kiumuhean Yim, and information & publicity secretary, Mathew K Janger, pointed out that so far no action has been taken even after visiting the spot by responsible on several occasions.

YTC stated that currently people living in the area were facing massive crisis due to snapping of road connectivity between the two districts (Kiphire and Tuensang). The council said village education committees have been particularly hit hard as they have to undergo hardships to deliver of mid-day meal to every school.

According to YTC, the NH-202 was the main lifeline of more than hundred villages, which depend on it. The council said it has been more than a month since natural disaster occurred, but no positive measures have been taken by the competent authority thus far.
