Reacting to NSCN (I-M) allegations of Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) colluding with Indian security forces, particularly Assam Rifles, ZUF Friday said that it was an “old habit and unpopular tactics” of the NSCN(IM).

The accusation was made “in order to cover up their defeat and weaknesses whenever they suffered miserably,” a statement of the ZUF signed by its information and publicity secretary, A Dangmei read.

During a gun fight between NSCN(I-M) and ZUF at Khumji-II, Noney on August 7, a former NSCN-K cadre Gaibungpou @ Abung, Rajo Peyu, who defected to NSCN (I-M), was killed.

The gun fight erupted during ZUF’s campaign to flush out cadres of the NSCN(I-M) from the Zeliangrong areas so as to keep the Zeliangrong from the bondage of NSCN(I-M), the statement stated.

It alleged that NSCN(I-M) cadres who were stationed in the village have been creating problems and causing insecurity among the people.

“The Hebron camp had deputed so called Special Task Force (STF) numbering around 40 to assist the stationed cadres in carrying out maximum anti-social activities in Zeliangrong areas,” it alleged.

ZUF also alleged that NSCN(I-M) have been involved in extorting huge amount of money from different companies and agencies that are executing mega projects besides imposing illegal tax from all vehicles plying on NH– 37 and collecting tax from the general public in the name of Naga political movement.

“However, the huge amount of money collected in the name of pursuing the Naga political movement are used in construction of multiple gigantic building, luxurious houses and buying hectares of land in different cities of the country, purchasing costly and luxurious vehicles, accumulating wealth and spending on luxurious things,” the ZUF alleged.

“This culture of lies and deceiving the innocent people by the NSCN (I-M) for so many years in now intolerable. Therefore, ZUF have decided to flush out the NSCN (I-M) from the Zeliangrong areas so as to keep the Zeliangrong from the bondage of the NSCN (I-M),” it added.

The ZUF also rubbished the allegation that UNLF supply AK-47 rifles to ZUF as “wild imagination and baseless allegation.”

NSCN(I-M) misusing Naga political movement just for their own selfish gain are now exposed as there is no sign of solution even after negotiation for more than 20 years, ZUF stated.

ZUF also extended revolutionary arm to all the Zeliangrong cadres in the NSCN(I-M) “to quit and return to the mainstream to avoid any kind of confrontation among the Zeliangrong brothers.”

While stating that NSCN(I-M) leaderships deputing “Zeliangrong to fight Zeliangrong was despicable,” ZUF stated that such policy of the NSCN (I-M) was nothing but a desperate effort to sow seed of distrust among the Zeliangrong.
