Advisor of Sericulture, Excise & Minority Affairs, Zhaleo Rio said that GBs being custodians of customs and culture should strive to unite people and deliver unbiased justice on all fronts which can bring manifold blessings.

A press release by NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II A/C media secretary, Thejangukho Yelietsu stated that, Zhaleo said this during his inaugural speech of the new building of Dhansiripar sub-division GBs Union on December 15 at Dhansiripar.  Zhaleo complimented the united efforts of everyone concerned in building the new complex, while adding that transparency in fund management too must have aided the construction processes. He urged people to practice austerity measures in their daily lives and requested the authority to properly utilise and maintain the building for the welfare of the subdivision. Remarking that Dhansiripar was lucky to have been a beneficiary under MPLADP 2018-19 for construction of the hall, Zhaleo said that “even my constituency have never received such an opportunity.”  He further urged the GBs to remain vigilant against any antisocial elements in their respective villages since they were “the eyes and ears of the government.”

On the Naga political issue, Rio opined that “Nagas are no less than a divided house with so many organisations having different wishes and principles” whereas the Indian government was aware of these shortcomings, leading to failed breakthrough in negotiations till today. Rio asserted that one should acquire knowledge about “the Naga struggle and our aspiration for sovereignty whatsoever”, but warned that divisive policies will always continue to be stumbling blocks unless Nagas unite and speak together as one.

He expressed that the central government was committed for a permanent settlement of the Naga imbroglio at the earliest possible time.

Earlier, in the inaugural programme compered by Lovitoli Swu, invocation was pronounced by pastor Dimasa Baptist Church, Dhansiripar, Fainesdao Naben. P.
