Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has warned that it would call for the third phase of agitation as the state government has failed to respond to its charter of demand.

A press release by ZSUN president Dithuibo Newmai and general secretary, Adona Herie condemned the “negligence and ignorance of the state government” towards the genuine plight of the people of Peren district. Claiming that “the inattention posture of the government have enough provoked the anxiety of the people and shall not remain a mute spectator anymore”, the ZSUN affirmed to stand by its ultimatum submitted to the chief minister on June 10, to fight “for justice until the government give us our demand and legitimization of our right to equality.”
ZSUN also stated that it has suspended its proposed series of rallies, keeping in view the genuine appeal of the public and organisations, whereas “the government still decides to remain a silent spectator.”
Union further appealed to all the concern citizens, civil societies and organisations of Peren district “to be prepared for worse if our peaceful protest is taken otherwise”, and cautioned that, in the event of any untoward incident arising out of the protest, the government will be held fully responsible.
