Nagaland COVID-19 tally rose to 9750 after 112 fresh cases were reported on Saturday-- 109 in Dimapur, 2 in Kohima and 1 in Mon.

Further, out of 9750 positive cases, the distribution across various categories include 4099 from the armed forces/police, 1730 returnees, 3449 traced contacts and 472 frontline workers.

Meanwhile, Health & Family Welfare department in its weekly bulletin released on Saturday expressed concern that 36% of deaths had taken place within 48 hours, signifying late arrival to the hospital with very advanced symptoms. “The key is early and timely intervention of the limited treatments available,” H&FW stated.

Till date, the department said that 63% of deaths were below 60 years of age. Out of 311 confirmed cases this week, the State has reported 7 COVID-19 deaths.

So far the State has recorded 46 deaths out of which 29 were from Dimapur, 13 in Kohima and 1 each in Mokokchung, Mon, Peren, Tuensang and Wokha.

Expressing serious concern about 1% increase in cases among 51-60 years age group in the past one week, the department warned that the uncontrolled spread among the age group of 21-40 years was increasing risk in the higher age groups.

H&FW further stated that the positivity rate among household contacts at 31% (1039/3389), continues to remain more than the office goers at 24% (801/3389). The sample positivity rate of Nagaland (9.28%) continued to be higher than the national average (7.07%).
