Twelve Bangladeshi nationals were arrested on January 4 with forged Aadhaar cards from the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport here. Police sources said that the 12 arrested were travelling to Chennai via Guwahati in an Indigo flight (No. 6E-119). They were allowed entry into the terminal by the CISF jawans on duty.

But trouble started at the reporting counter where the 12 men had gone to get their boarding passes. On examining their Aadhaar cards, the official on duty found the cards to be forged and issued in the names of others. All the cards were forged by putting different photographs alone. The Indigo official immediately alerted the police officers at the airport police station and all the 12 Bangladesh nationals were immediately taken into custody.

Sources at the MBB Airport said that all the arrested persons had illegally entered India.
