The 1st phase of “MITA (Meranga Inyaker Takum Alitsu)”, a food processing unit for the unemployed youth and an initiative of Alempang Baptist Church (ABC) Social Ministry, was inaugurated Friday, by Minister of PWD (Housing & Mechanical), Tongpang Ozukum at the ABC’s Old Office building.

While inaugurating the food processing unit, Tongpang Ozukum lauded the church for initiating a noble project to offer avenues of employment to the educated unemployed.

He hinted that such a noble endeavour by a church in the social ministry may be the first of its kind in the land for others to emulate as the white collared job had reached its saturation point.

Tongpang Ozukum stated that the pandemic has drastically devastated the world in all fields yet at the same time, he said that the pandemic has also brought about some “positivity” in Nagaland.

To cite a few, he stated that the health care sector has drastically improved, and that through the implementation of the Epidemic Act in Nagaland has made the people to follow/abide by government notified rules (rules of law).

He further pointed out that the pandemic has made people realise the importance of self-sufficiency and self-sustenance by returning back to the land to toil.

The minister urged upon the people to learn from the progress of each other with commitment to the job in hand by inculcating the “work culture”.

While delivering the introductory note on “MITA Ministry”, ABC Pastor, Rev. Dr. Temsu S stated that the project was to entirely empower the committed youth towards self-reliance.

He also said that the ministry is partnered with Canadian Baptist Ministry (CBM) and further informed that the 1st phase MITA Ministry (food processing) inauguration would be followed by the 2nd (carpentry) and 3rd (bakery & animal farming) phases in the very near future.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by ABC Y/P, Meren, invocation was said by Deacon I Mar and dedication by Pastor, Rev. Dr. Temsu S.
