28 new COVID cases reported in Meghalaya

Meghalaya on Wednesday reported 28 fresh COVID-19 cases taking the total number of active cases in the State up to 297, even as one trooper of the Border Security Force (BSF) recovered from the viral infection.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Alexander Laloo Hek said that of the 28 new cases, 19 are from the BSF Meghalaya Frontier and nine from the armed forces comprising of include six from East Khasi Hills district and three from Ri Bhoi district.
He also informed that one BSF trooper from West Garo Hills district has recovered from the viral infection taking the total number of recovered persons to 47 and two deaths as on Wednesday evening.
With the latest 19 new detection of viral infection in the BSF, Hek said the total number of active COVID-19 cases among the BSF troopers have climbed up to 198.
He also informed that a six-year-old boy from Khanapara in Ri Bhoi district has also tested positive for COVID-19.
Hek, however, refused to divulge details as to how the toddler contacted the viral infection.
