28th Loyem Memorial Penalty Shootout kicks off in Tuensang

The 28th Loyem Memorial Penalty Shootout kick started on November 19 at Loyem Memorial ground Tuensang under the theme, “Kick Social Discrimination” with Deputy Commissioner Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant as the chief guest. Altogether, 46 teams are participating in the shootout which was organized by Confederation of Chang Students’ Union (CCSU). According to DIPR report, speaking on the occasion, the chief guest applauded the organizing committee and CCSU for bringing up such event in times of pandemic with proper SOP and guidelines. “As the theme states, it is very true that discrimination does exist with humans yes but fighting discrimination in form of sports is a good spirit”, he said. 

The DC encouraged the participating teams to play with team spirit so that the true spirit of the sports can be achieved.  He also advised all the teams to maintain proper guidelines and maintain the SOP so that together with cooperation, they can beat the COVID-19. Convener LMT, M. Mongba, in his welcome address said that LMT has been organized since 27 years ago as a senior Soccer Open Championship but due to the global pandemic the 28th edition has been reduced to Penalty Shoot in order avoid untoward happening during this times. 

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao exhibition matches were played between girl students of Baptist Thangyen School and Wela Foundation School; Holy Angels School vs Tuensang Village Sports Foundation. An exhibition match was also played between DC Tuensang team and SP Tuensang team.
