4 persons without travel history test COVID positive in Jiribam

After Jiribam, locally transmitted cases of COVID-19 were reported in Manipur’s Thoubal district too.
Four persons with no recent travel history were tested COVID-19 positive in Thoubal district, an official source said on Wednesday. 
The four comprised of a  padhan, a  member of a gram panchayat, a security guard and one volunteer who served at a quarantine centre in the district, the source said.
The four have a history of exposure to known local risk factors. There is no evidence of community transmission going on in the district, a statement of the COVID-19 Common Control Room, however, said.
Local transmission of the virus had already been reported in Jiribam, the district bordering Assam after the mass infection of over 50 personnel of Jiribam police station.
With evidence of local clustering of the cases, the district has been under complete lockdown as a measures to contain further spread of COVID-19  in the district. 
Including the four persons, 28 persons (19 males and nine females) were confirmed as new COVID-19 cases in the state in the last 24 hours, the statement informed. Ten of the confirmed cases were from Imphal West, 11 from Thoubal district, four from Kamjong district and one each from Jiribam, Kakching, and Tamenglong districts.
Except the four confirmed cases from Thoubal district, all others were returnees from other states of the country and lodged at different quarantine centres, the statement said.
All necessary medical precautions like containment and contact tracing were put in place, it added.
Meanwhile, with 60 persons were discharged after they were found free of  COVID-19 during RT PCR test. The total number of recovered cases in Manipur stood at 1080 today.
