74th Independence Day observed across Nagaland

The 74th Independence Day was celebrated in a low key manner across the state with very few participants, necessitated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All government SOPs were stringently followed while conducting the programme in various districts of the state. VIPs unfurled the tri colour national flag and took rashtriya salute at their assigned places.  

P. Paiwang: Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Railways and Land Resource P Paiwang Konyak graced the celebration at Mon headquarter as the chief guest.  He unfurled the national flag followed by rashtriya salute. Parade review was conducted by SP Mon. 

V. Kashiho Sangtam: Minister of Soil & Water Conservation and Geology & Mining, V. Kashiho Sangtam unfurled the national flag. Few selected government officials and some NGOs members attended the programme. No public assembly was seen during the short programme. VG band Kiphire presented national anthem during unfurling of flag. ADC Seyochung and ADC Pungro also celebrated the programme in their respective stations. (Correspondent) 

Tongpang Ozukum: Minister of Housing & Mechanical, Tongpang Ozukum as chief guest unfurled the national flag and took rashtriya salute. There were no civilians in the programme, barring government officials and heads of departments. (Correspondent)

L. Khumo Noklak: Advisor of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Economics & Statistics and Evaluation, L. Khumo unfurled the national flag at Noklak Hq and took the rashtriya salute. According to DIPR report, contingent from 3rd NAP ‘F’ Coy Noklak led by platoon commander P. Pukha Khiamniungan, platoon 2 i/c C. Thongo Khiamniungan and flag man Hangtoi Khiamniungan participated in the parade. National anthem was sung by Hermanas Band of Noklak town. As part of the first independence day celebration of newly formed Noklak district, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) adopted two villages namely Noklak village and Kingjung village with a donation of 2500 LED bulbs for distribution to each villages which was handed over by L.Khumo. Felicitation of NGOs in the frontline against COVID-19 was also presented by the advisor. Red Cross Society and Social Welfare Department of Noklak made an institutional visit to Community Health Centre, Noklak. 

Toshi Wungtung: Advisor of IP&R, SCERT and VG, Toshi Wungtung was the special guest of the celebration.  Review of parade was done by Rajashekara N IPS DIG-R NAP. Only one contingent of DEF and one 3rd NAP Pipe Band participated in the parade, led by Imtisingba Chang ABI DEF as parade commander and Ngon Khaimniungan ABSI as platoon commander. Commendation awards were also given to A. Bendangtoshi Ao GT DEO, H. Longhen Gr-1 DB ADC Noklak, Lakiumong Gr-1 DB DC Offcie Tuensang, Sunny John surveyor Water Resource Tuensang, Imli Khumba Sangtam LDA DC office Tuensang, Puthai Phom PD DRDA, Mabala typist DSCO, Hopise Sangtam agri inspector SDAO Longkhim, Chillia Khaim surveyor DLRSO, A. Yanrenthung Jami SMO (gynaecologist) MS DH, Tsajungchem Sangtam UDA MS DH, Moshamongko fishery demonstrator Fishery and K. Namang ngaku Chang forester –II Noklak range.

NH New Delhi: Nagaland House (NH) New Delhi celebrated the day with advisor of IT and NRE, Mmhonlumo Kikon as the chief guest. A press release by PRO (IPR) NH, New Delhi, Kuolie Mere stated that, Mmhonlumo thanked Nagaland House team led by ACS & RC for following protocols and helping the Nagas in Delhi from providing rations to sending home through the Shramik Train and other special trains.  ACS & RC, Jyoti Kalash congratulated the DRC Kethosituo Sekhose and his team of officers and staff for handling the emergency COVID 19 situation with exceptional dedication. 

DC Wokha: Deputy commissioner, Wokha Orenthung Lotha as the chief guest unfurled the national flag and read out the message.  March pass display was done by DEF, Wokha with ABSI Jhonronthung as the parade commander and national anthem was played by 40 Assam Rifles, band party Wokha. Flag hoisting was also done in all the government offices, institutions, official residence, private residence, shops and business establishments in the district.

DC Phek: Deputy commissioner Phek, Sachin Jaiswal as the special guest unfurled the national flag, took rashtriya salute with national anthem and read out the speech. The national flag was hoisted in all the offices and institutions even in private residents. 

DC Phek: Deputy commissioner Phek, Sentiwapang Aier unfurled the national flag, took rashtriya salute from the parade contingents and read out speech at DC’s office complex, Peren. National flags were hoisted in all government offices/residences/institutions and special song was also presented by Victoria Haihing and Anthony Zeliang. Beating of retreat was by District Executive Force (DEF), Peren.

DC Longleng: Deputy Commissioner Longleng, M. Shayung Phom as special guest unfurled the national flag and delivered the speech. National anthem was sung by Nyengching ward youth. 

ADC Jalukie: ADC Jalukie, Dr Tinojongshi Chang unfurled the national flag and took rastriya salute with singing of national anthem. National flag was also hoisted in all the government & semi government office, institutions and private building.

ADC Pfutsero: ADC Pfutsero Phuleshe K Yepthomi unfurled the national flag and took the rashtriya salute and read out the speech. National anthem was sung by 14th AR D’coy Pfutsero.

SDO (C) Chizami: SDO (C) Vekuto Vero unfurled the national flag, read out the independence day speech and took salute from DEF Chizami.

ADC Tening: ADC Tening Rhosietho Nguori unfurled the national flag followed by national anthem and rashtriya salute in the presence of government department officials, police personnel and public.

ADC Meluri: ADC Meluri Temjen Mhuba unfurled the national flag and took rashtriya salute from 5th NAP, led by havildar Pongro Konyak. Function was attended by all head of offices under Meluri sub-division.

ADC Shamator: ADC Shamator, Lankonsen Tsanglao was the chief guest. Celebration was held with head of departments, administration and few invitees. National song was sung by the town V.G Shamator.

ADC Aghunato: ADC Aghunato T. Moa Lemtor unfurled the tricolour and DBs Aghunato presented the national anthem.

ADC Medziphema: ADC Medziphema, Thsuvisie Phoji as the chief guest unfurled the national flag and took the rashtriya salute and delivered the speech. The 11th NAP (IR) Bn Ruzaphema led by parade commander ABSI C.Throngok Konyak took part in the celebration. Programme was attended by heads of the departments.

SDO (C) Chen: SDO (C) Chen, Samuel Konyak unfurled the national flag at SDO (Civil) complex at Chen town. 

ADC Satakha: ADC Satakha, T. Kiusumong Tikhir unfurled the national flag and also delivered a short speech. National anthem was sung by anganwadi workers.

SDO (C) Wakching: SDO (C) Wakching, Relise Sangtam unfurled the national flag and took salute from village guard Wakching. Programme was attended by all the government employees, GBs & DBs and well wishers.

ADC Tizit: ADC Tizit Pakon Phom unfurled the national flag and took rashtriya salute from 6th NAP Tizit. ADC also delivered a short speech. 

NPCC Kohima: Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) celebrated 74th independence day at Congress Bhavan, Kohima. NPCC working president Khriedi Theünuo unfurled the national flag. NPCC officials, Seva Dal, Kohima DCC leaders, youth congress and party men and women attended the programme.   

Niuland ADC HQ: ADC Niuland, Athrila unfurled that flag and took rashtriya salute at Niuland public ground. Highlights of the day included hoisting of national flag in all government offices/institutions/public and private buildings and beating of retreat by 8th NAP ‘C’ Coy.

ADC Pughoboto: ADC Pughotboto, Thungchanbemo Tungoe unfurled the national flag and took the rashtriya salute from the 8 NAP, Naltoqa ‘A’ coy Pughoboto. National anthem was sung by SAKK. Chief guest gave away presentation to SAKK, NAP and DEF police personnel. 

ADC Tseminyu: ADC Tseminyu W. Manpai Phom formally unfurled the national flag at ADC office premises Tseminyu and took salute from 4th NAP ‘B’ coy and DEF Tseminyu led by Haveldar Tesilo Rengma.  National flag was hoisted in the morning in all the government offices, institutions in Tseminyu. 

Seyochung: ADC Seyochung, Japheth unfurled the national flag. Rashtriya salute was given by VG Seyochung Hq, led by Nikihe Chishi Seyochung area VG commander. All government officers and GBs attended the function.

SDO (C) Changtongya: SDO (C) Changtongya, Moakumzuk Tzudir as the chief guest unfurled the national flag and look the salute from DEF police station Changtongya. 

EAC Aboi: EAC Aboi, Lithrila Sangtam as especial guest unfurled national tri colour flag and took salute. All the head of departments, DBs, GBs, attended the function.

ADC Naginimora: ADC Naginimora, Renabomo Odyuo unfurled the national flag and took rashtriya salute from ‘A’ coy, 6 NAP jawans. Heads of offices attended the function.

ADC Chozuba: ADC Chozuba, Theodore Yanthan unfurled the national flag. The function was celebrated with minimal participants with full protective gears and social distancing.

EAC Pungro: EAC Pungro, Nuhuta Tunyi hoisted the national flag and took rashtriya salute. National anthem was sung by Government Middle School Pungro. The celebration was attended by government servants, NGOs and CSOs under Pungro.

ADC Chiephobozou: ADC Chiephobozou, Vekhoyi Chakhesang hoisted the flag and took rashtriya salute during the occasion.

SDO (C) Jakhama: SDO (C) Jakhama, Alemyapang Longchar unfurled the national flag at SDO (C) Jakhama office.

EAC Thonoknyu: National flag was unfurled by EAC Mungo Khiamniungan at SDO Civil office campus. All the DBs, GBs, Adhoc town committee, NAP and NP attended the programme.

SDO (C) Monyakshu: SDO (C) Monyakshu Longtiba Sangtam unfurled the national flag and took the salute from the Village Guard at Monyakshu. 

SDO (C ) Angjangyang: SDO (C) Angjangyang, Yanithung Ngullie hoisted the national flag and took Rashtriya salute from Village Guards Changlang village. 

ADC Tobu: ADC Tobu, Mudongoyi as the special guest unfurled the national flag and read out the independence day speech.

ADC Tuli: ADC Tuli, Imsongmeren took the rashtriya salute from DEF Tuli and read out a short message. All the HoDs under Tuli sub division, GBs attended the programme. 

DBSU Dimapur: Dimapur Bengali Students Union (DBSU) celebrated the occasion in the presence of advisor to DBSU, Bishnu Bhattacharje, president Raja Debnath and all the office bearers, where short speeches were given by advisor, president and vice president. A press release by DBSU vice president, Rajat Ghosh stated that programme was organised with minimum presence of DBSU members.

TGOUN: The Global Open University Nagaland (TGOUN) observed Independence Day, at its campus at Sodzulhou vllage, 6th Mile, Dimapur. 

A press release by TGOUN vice chancellor Dr HN Dutta stated that only few employees staying in the campus assembled attended the programme. Vice chancellor Dr H. N. Dutta hoisted the flag.

CoVS Jalukie: College of Veterinary Sciences (CoVS), Jalukie celebrated with unfurling of the flage by dean of the college, Dr. Arun Kumar Sangwan. Flute recital was performed by Dr. Tukeshwar Chutia and patriotic songs were presented by Dr. Uday Umrikar, Njumthung Kithan and Inraibe Iheilung. Geetha Gopi displayed art and craft work. Programme was conducted by Dr. Soya Rungsung and organised by Dr. Gunjan Das, Dr. Mukherjee and Dr. Lalchawimawia Ralte.

LCD: Lions Club of Dimapur (LCD) Hornbill and Japfu celebrated by conducting plantation drive where each member planted five saplings each. A press release by LCD stated that district chairperson international relation Neena Dutta along with the Leo Club of Dimapur and Leo Club of St. Mary’s attended the programme. 

PVHSS Dimapur: Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School (PVHSS) Dimapur observed the day at the school premises with a speech by principal of the school. A press release by PVHSS stated that, principal emphasized on the importance of “New National Education Policy 2020” and its implementation which would positively transform the lives of students and the attainment of overall development. He also paid homage and saluted those who sacrificed their valuable lives for the noble cause of the country.

SSP: Sainik School Punglwa (SSP) held the programme with principal of the school, Gp Capt Prasun Basu as the chief guest. A press release by SSP stated that, principal reminded the gathering of the sacrifices made then and now to keep the nation independent and sovereign. NCC Coy, SSP created awareness about the present Covid situation. Programme was attended by the staff and day scholars. 

GYCD: Gorkha Youth Club Dimapur (GYCD) observed the day with a short programme at the residence of its information secretary at Rana Colony, Dimapur. A press release by GYCD stated that, president Shiva Kumar Bk along with general secretary and executive members distributed essential items to 11 Gorkha families, to keep the spirit of togetherness and cherish the sacrifices of the forefathers for the country.  

Dimapur Bongs: Dimapur Bongs observed the day with its secretary Abhijit Chowdhury along with kids present unfurled the tricolour flag and sang the national anthem. A press release by Dimapur Bongs president also expressed gratitude to the front line workers i.e Police force who are working tirelessly during this pandemic.
