Altogether 897 more healthcare workers, including doctors, nurses and support staff, were vaccinated on Monday with Covishield vaccine across the State. This took the total number of healthcare workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in the State to 1,458.

The vaccination was conducted across 22 sites, including private hospitals, and healthcare workers from both public and private health sectors were vaccinated safely.

Informing this in a press note, state immunization officer, Dr. Ritu Thurr said that all vaccinated healthcare workers will receive the subsequent second dose after 28 days, even as they will have to strictly follow COV1D-19 appropriate behaviours even after their vaccination. All the districts will have more sessions for the remaining healthcare workers in the coming days.

The first phase of vaccination is reserved only for pre-registered healthcare workers as they are at the highest risk of infection and also to reduce transmission to patients when caring for them. All vaccination sites are entered in COWIN portal and all beneficiaries are verified with photo identity cards before receiving the vaccine.
