Former chief minister and current Lok Sabha MP, Neiphiu Rio, who was selected as the interim NPF president by 36 MLAs, has once again been suspended from the NPF for involving in “anti-party activities by way of associating with expelled and suspended NPF legislators,” an order issued by the NPF working presidents—Huskha Yepthomi and Apong Pongener stated.
NPF maintained that Rio’s “action speaks volume of his anti-party activities, as he has been appointed as the so-called interim president of the NPF by the expelled and suspended NPF MLAs on July 31, 2017.”
It may be recalled that Rio was suspended on May 17, 2016. However, NPF party in order to facilitate “true reconciliation” revoked the suspension order of Rio and 10 others on July 13, 2017.
Despite revoking his suspension order, NPF alleged that Rio was directly involved in splitting the NPF legislators for furtherance of his hidden agenda. In this regard, the NPF ordered the suspension of Rio from both primary and active membership with immediate effect.
