AASU takes on govt over incomplete projects at Aboi

DIMAPUR | Publish Date: 4/27/2021 1:05:30 PM IST

Expressing concern on the slow progress of work in the construction of 11th NAP (IR) Battalion Aboi and Government Polytechnic Aboi (GPA), the Aboi Area Students’ Union (AASU) has demanded assurance from the government that the remaining construction works would be completed within a time frame.

AASU media cell claimed that despite reminding the concerned authority for early completion, the department went ahead and fixed the date for inauguration of the IR battalion camp.

The union stated that it was not against early inauguration but their main demand was that work should be completed first.  Since the work was only half done, accommodation of jawans would pose huge problem, which would interrupt the normal duties of the jawan and staff posted there, the union claimed. AASU pointed out that GPA was inaugurated last year before completion of work. It stated that the inauguration would bring relief to the students’ community to carry forward its academic goals but, the building stood without additional works for teaching staff and hostels for students.

AASU has appealed to the home and technical education departments to first complete the work before any proposed inauguration.
