Active COVID-19 cases marginally down in Meghalaya

The number of active COVID-19 cases dropped down marginally to 586 in Meghalaya, even as it reported 48 new cases and 148 recoveries, surging the number of persons who have recovered from the viral infection to 12,470 as on Friday.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said the  new COVID-19 cases detected on Friday were 47, including four from among the armed forces in East Khasi Hills district and one in Ri-Bhoi district. 
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the most affected district of East Khasi Hills, including Shillong has also comparatively come down to 355, followed by 108 active cases in West Jaintia Hills district.
Of the new recoveries recorded on Friday, the senior medical official said  127, including 27 from among the armed forces in East Khasi Hills district, 7 in West Garo Hills district and 4 each in South West Garo Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district.
War furthermore, informed that 2,75,934 people have been tested for Covid-19 in the State, of whom 2,62,745 persons have tested negative for the virus as of Friday. 
Till date, 73,498 persons from outside entered the State, even as 179 persons have been kept in institutional quarantine and 367 persons are in home isolation while there are 22 containment zones, where COVID-19 positive cases have been detected.
So far, Meghalaya has registered 13,189 COVID-19 cases, which includes 133 deaths with one percent case fatality rate, 586 active cases and 12,470 of recovery from the viral disease.
