Activities conducted under Poshan Maah in Nagaland

 In view of September month observed as Poshan Maah (national nutrition month), various districts in the state conducted programmes on September 7, with an aim to disseminate awareness on health and nutrition.

Peren: A launching programme organised by department of Social Welfare, Peren was observed at DC conference hall, New Peren along with line departments of PHE, Medical, RD, Education & administration.
DC Peren Sentiwapang Aier said that it was a programme initiated to prevent existing malnutrition in India and to identify prevailing cases in the district and urged nodal department to identify the indicators to progress and work where more approach was needed.
He apprised line departments to work and coordinate for the welfare of the district during the monthly observation.
Earlier, the launch was initiated by reading out poshan pledge while vote of thanks was delivered by CDPO Jalukie, Namhuheing. Programme was chaired by dy. director, DPO Peren, Nokcharenla who briefed about activities and programs to be taken up in the month at various levels in the district.
Noklak: ICDS Noklak project under the department of Social Welfare conducted a short programme at CDPO office, Noklak under the theme, “complementary feeding”.
According to DIPR report, senior supervisor, CDPO office Noklak, P Hemping said that poshan abhiyaan was a multi-ministerial convergence mission with a vision to ensure attainment of malnutrition free India by 2022. Programme was attended by anganwadi workers of Noklak project and from civil societies. 
Medziphema: Poshan Maah was launched at conference hall ADC office, Medziphema with SDO (C) Medziphema, Tokai V Sumi as special guest. Sumi spoke about good health and nutrition and encouraged proper implementation of government schemes for the welfare of the public. CDPO, Medziphema & ICDS project in-charge, Tsungrosongla administrated poshan pledge and briefed on objectives of Poshan Abhiyaan with regards to reducing stunting and wasting in children and ensuring proper development, adequate nutrition for pregnant women, mothers and children, social and behavioural changes by building a people’s movement, etc.
Longleng: Programme for the launch was held at EBRC hall, Longleng with ADC Longleng, D. Robin as special guest. ADC led the gathering in reading out poshan pledge, CDPO Longleng, T. Longlang delivered a brief note on poshan maah, while dy. CMO Longleng, Dr. Philip Khing briefed on prevention of anaemia among women and adolescent girls. Programme was chaired by Longhong district co-ordinator poshan maah.
Sitimi: ICDS project Sitimi department of Social Welfare, Nagaland launched the programme on September 7 at CDPO office Sitimi. 
A press release by ICDS project Sitimi stated that, block project assistant Poshan Abhiyaan Sitimi block, Kashika K Sumi chaired the programme, invocation by pastor Sumi Baptist Church Sitimi town (Nitomount), Akheto and keynote address was delivered by sr. supervisor ICDS project Sitimi, Deepak Chetteri. Head GB Sitimi town Visuho exhorted the gathering while GNM PHC Sitimi, Jepitoli demonstrated hand washing and block coordinator Poshan Abhiyaan Sitimi block, Limichem Sangtam read the pledge. Benediction was offered by pastor Hokheshe.
