One oil tanker parked at Satish truck parking lot at Khatkhati under Khatkhati police outpost was totally gutted by mysterious fire yesterday.
According to locals, this is the fourth incident of tankers catching fire. Earlier, a truck was ablaze at Gautam Basti area of the same locality close to national highway-39 when it was parked. Local are quite alarmed of such recurrence without any valid cause.
The latest incident has also raised the need for the concerned authority to have a serious look into the recent allegation of oil pilferage carried out inside parking lots as alleged by people of the area.
Locals have alleged that owners of the truck and parking lot are carrying business void of trading license and are operating for years without any proper monitoring system by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council authority. Local eyewitnesses have also alleged that in the recent past, truck owners were found engaging in pilfering of diesel inside the parking lot.
Residents of the area have demanded concerned authority to look into the incidents .
