AR nab five with contraband drugs

Troops of Assam Rifles apprehended five persons and recovered contraband drugs from their possession at Khudengthabi Check Post in Tengnoupal district, Manipur on March 20. 

According to a defence release, the AR troops on duty at the check post stopped a Silver coloured van (MN 06 LB 0571) driven by Pukhrambam Munal Singh (47), along with four passengers. 

During checking, the release said 610 grams of suspected Brown Sugar worth approximately Rs 1.2 crores in international market was recovered. 

The four passengers accompanying in the vehicle have been identified as  Keishing (44), Lalremsiami Singson (57), Lalboi Singson (28) and Henjahao Manlun ( 24). The contraband items were being transported to Imphal.

The apprehended persons along with the recovered item have been handed over to Tengnoupal Police Station for further investigations. Assam Rifles vigilant actions have curbed the menace of illegal contraband smuggling and contributed significantly towards achieving a drug free environment in Manipur.
