In a tragic incident, on January 12, a 23 year old male resident of Englan Village, Wokha district, drowned in the waters of Doyang Dam.

PRO (Def), Col C Konwer, in a press note stated that Wokha district administration swung into action and a detailed search was carried out by local authorities and the SDRF but the body was not found due to difficult conditions in the dam.

On January 13, a team of divers from Army Special Forces unit under Dimapur based 3 Corps commenced the search. The muddy waters and its depth made the search a slow and deliberate process. The team was eventually able to recover the body which was handed over to the family members of the victim. The family expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Army team.
