Assam Rifles has rejected the accusations of carrying out raid at Dhansiripar village on February 10 and termed it as a “malicious allegations levelled” against the security forces.

In a statement, PRO (def) Kohima, Lt Col Sumit K Sharma claimed that the aim “appears clearly to blemish image of Assam Rifles which has always been known for ethical and people friendly operations”.

Further, PRO clarified that based on specific information search operation was launched on February 10 after inputs suggested that a meeting of armed cadres was underway at the residence of Kishore Jeedung. Since the house owner or Gaon Burah was not present, the house was not “even searched in the first place”.

However, PRO claimed that “ground sources have indicated that Dhansiripar Village council has been coerced by NSCN (IM) to level the false allegations”.

Re-iterating that the security forces were mandated to carry out operations to ensure peace in their area of responsibility, the PRO said that allegations was aimed at discrediting and discouraging security forces from doing their bonafide duties.
