Assam seeks M’laya’s support for ‘oxygen hub’

 Assam Government is going to send a proposal to the Centre to make Assam the oxygen logistic hub for North Eastern states and chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday sought the support of his Meghalaya counterpart, Conrad K Sangma in this regard.
“The Assam chief minister has requested the Government of Meghalaya to back the proposal,” a statement issued by the Meghalaya Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) stated.
Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma Tuesday held consultations via video conference with his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma on the COVID-19 scenario and cooperation between the two neighbouring states to tackle the emerging situation. The duo discussed cooperation and support which can be extended as the county is unitedly working to defeat Coronavirus. Sangma thanked Sarma for the support being extended by the Assam government to provide oxygen to Meghalaya. During the virtual meeting, Sangma requested further cooperation from Assam, in case of any eventuality. Sarma has assured Meghalaya government to provide all necessary support to combat COVID-19. “Assam will give 100 doses of Covaxin to Meghalaya and also D Type Cylinders,” Sangma informed.
