Assam Sand Suppliers and Truck Owners Association Dimapur (ASSTOAD), which had called for a total ban on sand supply beginning September 30, Tuesday announced lifting of the total ban.

Announcing this at a press conference held here at Gorapatti, ASSTOAD president Anito Shohe stated that the sand rate has been fixed at Rs 32 per cft at source after much negotiation with the 15 mahaldars in Assam.

With regard to the rate for consumers, Shohe said that the association would be having a meeting with district administration before fixing the price. Mahaldars, who were also present at the press conference, clarified that they were not part of any association who had entered into agreements with different sand suppliers in the district.
