ATMAs conduct various programmes for farmers

Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) conducted various programmes for the welfare of farmers in the state. 

Moalenden village: A farm school on cultivation of Mandarin orange was inaugurated at Moalenden village under ATMA, Ongpangkong North block, Mokokchung on July 16.

In a press release from, ATMA Mokokchung, ATM Masatula Pongener informed that the farm school was inaugurated with an aim to promote effective use of resources and efficacious technology transfer among the farming community for livelihood sustainability. 

During the inaugural programme, ATM Tsuktirenla highlighted the concept of farm school. Waluniba was appointed as farm teacher along with 20 other farmers as farm students. 

Various lessons were given on management of orange orchards by resource person ATM Sakotsungba. Falcon Pruning Secatures and organic insecticides for the farm school were distributed among all the farmers.

Demonstration and mobilisation of food security group, Imchalenjen group under Chubayimkum village was also conducted on the same day with resource persons BTM Watisenla, ATM’s Lanusanen, Masatula, Tsuktirenla, ATM and Sakotsungba.

Mokokchung village: With reports of high infestation of grasshopper at Mokokchung village, ATMA, Ongpangkong North block along with district agriculture office, Mokokchung conducted a training on July 19. 

Various topics on field management and biological pest control was discussed by ATM Tsuktirenla. She stressed on the effects of pest infestation and encouraged early field management before infestation occurred. 

Demonstration was conducted where ATM Masatula highlighted on uses of IPM inputs and disseminated technical expertise on tackling pest incidences using various biological and mechanical control methods. Altogether 15 farmers attended the training where IPM kits which included bio-pesticides, pheromone traps, tricho cards, sticky traps etc., were distributed.
