Award recipients on I-Day 2020

There were four awardees for Governor’s Award 2020 in the field of Arts and Music. According to DIPR report, the awardees in the field of Arts are Buddhi Bahadur Thapa, Bendangnungsang Ao and Kekhrielezo Stephen Mark Medom and in Music, The Squadron Band. The Governor’s Award distribution ceremony will be taken up on January 26, 2021 (Republic Day)

In the Governor’s Gold Medal and Governor’s Commendation Certificate, principal director, Directorate of School Education, Shanavas C,  Havildar DEF Dimapur, S. Khetoshe Sumi and Rattle & Hum Music Society (RHMS), NGO, Kohima were selected for the award of Governor’s Gold Medal. Assistant director, Directorate of School Education, Nagaland, B. Nellayappan, DCP Zone-1 Dimapur Dr. Naieem Mustafa Mansury and UBSI DEF Mokokchung Imlikokba were selected for the award of Governor’s Commendation Certificate. Governor’s Gold Medal and Governor’s Commendation Certificate awardees on Independence Day, 2020 could not be awarded due to the COVID-19 pandemic and they will be awarded the medals and certificates on subsequent Republic Day/Independence Day. 

The President’s Police Medal for meritorious service was awarded to N. Chumdamo Jamio, DIGP (IR), South Police Headquarter, Nagaland and the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Best Police Station in Nagaland was awarded to Kiphire Police Station, Kiphire district.

Meanwhile, the deputy CM and minister in-charge of Home, Y. Patton congratulated N. Chumdamo Jamio DIGP (IR) South PHQ, for being awarded the coveted Police Medal for Meritorious Service, making him the lone recipient from the state this year. Patton said that only the outstanding and efficient from among lakhs of personnel are selected for this special award. Patton added that it was indeed a proud moment for the Nagaland Police. On behalf of all rank and file of Police department, Patton conveyed heartiest congratulations and wishes him a bright and successful career.
