Awareness & training on forest fire prevention in Tuensang

An awareness and training on forest fire prevention and management was conducted by Tuensang forest division on March 31 at the CKS conference hall Tuensang.

A press release by the division stated that in his speech, additional deputy commissioner, Tuensang, Ajay Verma stressed on the importance of collaboration among the villages to prevent forest fire.
He also asserted the importance to use both the traditional methods along with technical help from the department to prevent forest fire. 
SDPO Tuensang, Kanchan pointed out the dependence of villagers on the forest and their responsibilities towards preventing forest fire. 
In her introductory speech, divisional forest officer, Tuensang division, Dr. C. Zupeni Tsanglai highlighted the responsibilities of villagers to work in collaboration with the forest department to prevent and manage forest fires in the district. 
She appreciated the efforts of the villagers for timely monitoring and intervention. Dr. Tsanglai said such efforts have been helping in preventing the forest fires in the district despite the vulnerability of forest fires incidences in the district due to practice of jhumming.  
In the second session, presentation on fire prevention was given by officer in-charge fire brigade Tuensang, C. Renbenthung and the power point presentation on forest fires prevention and management was given by range officer Noklak, Imtimar.
The programme was chaired by assistant conservator of forest, Dzuthovito Lcho and the vote of thanks was delivered by range officer Noklak, Imtimar.
