Bishop of Kohima appeals for special prayers

Diocese of Kohima has called upon the faithful to conclude the month of Rosary on October 31 with special prayers for a just peace. 

A press release by diocese of Kohima secretary Fr, Victor Renthungo stated that, Bishop of Kohima, Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, had urged for observing special prayer and fasting to find just solution to the problems confronting at all levels and particularly for peace and reconciliation in Nagaland.  
 While the world is still grappling with the onslaught of coronavirus problem with no clue as to what the future holds, the Bishop pointed out that at “the national level we are faced with many regulations and laws passed summarily without proper consultation and consensus, such as NRC, CAA 2019, Famers Bill 2020, NEP 2020, FCRA amendments, etc.” He added that in the state level “we are in an uncertain and fluctuating state regarding the final solution although many consultative and official meetings have been going on for the past many years.” In this regard, Bishop said that the diocese of Kohima, has been praying the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi for peace and reconciliation in Nagaland since 2015. 
Bishop further said that at this critical juncture, “we need the grace and blessing of God to take right and meaningful decision that will usher in peace and prosperity for our people” and that the Catholic community of Nagaland urge leaders to strive for just peace through peaceful and non-violent means, giving up all forms of divisions and petty difference, forgiving and forgetting, sharing and caring, speaking as one united voice in love, respecting one another and striving for the common good of all, motivated and principled by the gospel values and teaching of Church.
