Jos Buttler is set to miss Rajasthan Royals’ tournament opener against Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday being in quarantine with his family in Dubai.

England and Australia players travelled from one bubble to another after their limited-overs series in the UK, with the BCCI reducing the quarantine period to 36 hours for the players.

However, Buttler, who missed the series owing to family commitments, will be subjected to six-day mandatory quarantine given that he travelled separately with his family to Dubai.

Buttler confirmed the same on Sunday via an Instagram Live session on the Royals’ page. “I’m unfortunately going to miss the first match for Rajasthan because I’m going to be doing my quarantine period because I’m here with my family - which is great that the Royals have allowed me to have my family out here. It’ll be a huge help in lockdown having my family here with me.”

While the Royals’ captain Steve Smith posted a picture on his page with the young opening batsman in their set-up, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Buttler said he was excited to meet the youngster who turned heads in the Under-19 World Cup earlier in the year.
