Centre okays 2 road projects for Nagaland

Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari Saturday announced that two road proposals worth Rs.523.07 crore have been approved for Nagaland. Union minister informed that two projects included Rs. 226.45 crore for widening of existing intermediate lane/single lane to two-lane from Km 135.00 to Km 147.00 and Km 156.00 to Km 168.00 of NH-61 and Rs. 297.25 crore for widening of existing intermediate lane/single lane to two-lane from Km 185.00 to Km 220.00 of NH-61 (New NH 02).

Earlier this year, Mokokchung district administration while taking note of some individuals constructing buildings/structures along the NH-02 stretch, had directed responsible individuals to refrain from carrying out any further unauthorised developmental activities over the land within the RoW.  DC Mokokchung had stated that some individuals were constructing buildings and structures starting from Km.135.00 (Alichen) to Km.147.00 (Sewak Gate), Km.156.00 (DEF) to Km.168.00 (Yisemyong) and Km.185.00 (Unger) to Km.220.00 (Assam Rifle Gate, Tuli). 

DC had stated that assessment for property damage compensation for buildings/structures for widening of single lane to two lane of NH-02 along the mentioned stretch had already been carried out and completed by NH team and line departments, district administration in coordination with village council of concerned villages.
