Chetheba, Rukizu in men’s basketball semis

 Chetheba Town and Rikizu teams have booked their semi-final berths after winning their respective men’s basketball matches on the fourth day of the ongoing 50th golden jubilee of Chokri Area Games and Sports Association (CAGSA) here at Phüsachodü village under Phek district on Thursday. 

In the first quarterfinal match, Chetheba team outclassed North Kikruma 49-27 points to book their semi-finals berth. They will now play against Thipuzu of the men’s basketball semis. While Rukizu overcome Kikruma by 49-35 points during the second quarterfinal match. They will take on Thenyizu team in the semi-final match.

In men’s volleyball, seven times defending champions Thenyizu village kick started their campaign winning both their matches to mark their entry to the next round. They defeated Kikruma by 25-11, 25-15 and Thipuzu by 25-14, 25-15. Host village Phüsachodü, Chesezu, Chetheba, North Kikruma also have won their first league matches on the fourth day.  Host team Phüsachodü (men) continued their good form in football by thrashing Chikri Nasa by 7-0. Zhoveto Chuzho and Dzüthotsoyi Medeo struck twice, while Nuvoto Theluo, Vevochuyi Puyo-o, Kuluveyi Curhah scored a goal each for Phüsachodü team. With back to back win, Phüsachodü topped the group B table and secure their entry into quarterfinal round.  For women’s football matches, Shodulü Swiho scored the first hat-trick of the sports meet helping Thenyizu village thumped Chikri Nasa by 6-0.  Swiho scored four goals, while Khrukhosalu scored twice for Thenyizu team to register an empathetic win against Nasa team. 

Chesezu women team set up a quarterfinal clash against Khulazu Bawe by winning against Chetheba team 2-0. The goals came through the boots of Vesetalu Swuro and Nusatalu during the match. 

Neisuzolu Theluo lone goal for host team Phüsachodü secured the semi-final round.  They overcame Rukizu team by a solitary goal in the encounter.  While Thipuzu beat North Kikruma 1-0, they will now play against the winner of either Kikruma or Khulazu Basa in the quarterfinal round. 

On Friday, the first match will be played between Kikruma against K Basa for women’s football, for volleyball (men) Chetheba will play their second match against Chikri Nasa, while for women’s basketball, Chesezu team will take on Rukizu in their respective grounds.
