CIH Medziphema online trg for farmers, entrepreneurs

Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), DAC & FW, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, India, Medziphema, Nagaland organized 4-day online training on “prospects of processing and entrepreneurship” for farmers, rural youth, students and entrepreneurs from August 19 to 22. 

A press release by CIH Medziphema stated that, post harvest technologist, CIH Vinika K Aomi gave a brief remark about CIH and its post harvest management activities. Dr. N. K. Patle, deputy commissioner Horticulture and director CIH welcomed all the resource persons and encouraged the trainees to learn in-depth and understand the benefits of value addition and processing of Horticultural crops. Director also highlighted on the various schemes available under MIDH for setting up of processing units in the region. 

Various topics were covered by resource persons, namely Dr. Anju K. Dhiman (professor and head, Dept of food science and technology, Dr YSP University of Horticulture & Forestry, Solan, Himachal Pradesh), Dr. M. K Salooja (professor School of Agriculture IGNOU University, Delhi), Dr. Ivi Chakraborty (professor Post Harvest Technology of Hort. Crops, BCKV, West Bengal), Dr. Somesh Sharma (associate professor Biotechnology School of Bioengineering and Food technology, Shoolini University Himachal Pradesh) and Dr. S. Ruth Assumi (scientist, Division of Horticulture, ICAR).

Altogether 100 participants comprising of rural youths, entrepreneurs, food processing enthusiasts and food technology students registered and attended the online training.
