CM Rio visits state botanical garden

State chief minister, Neiphiu Rio visited the state botanical garden Kohima on April 2, to oversee the development works currently undergoing at the botanical garden for development of Public Park.

A press release by state silviculturist Lhinghoikim Touthang stated that during his visit, Rio interacted with the forest department officials in the presence of the PCCF & HOFF (principal chief conservator of forest and head of forest force) Dharmendra Prakash, chief conservator of forests (CCF) Supongnukshi, conservator of forests (CF) Dr. Kenei, state silviculturist Lhinghoikim Touthang and her division staff. 

The chief minister and his entourage also took a walk to the watch tower I of the garden.

Besides other suggestions, he encouraged the forest department to undertake plantation of ornamental species along the walkways and in and around the garden to add to the aesthetic value of the garden.

He also suggested on working towards the improvement of existing infrastructure of the garden to attract more visitors and to be more differently-able friendly.

The chief minister was accompanied by his wife.
