Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) has expressed its appreciation to the State government and all members of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), irrespective of party affiliations, for taking up its demand and unanimously agreeing to form a committee with regard to SARFAESI Act and its implementation in Nagaland.

CNCCI CNCCI chairman Dr Khekugha Muru and general secretary Dr Seyievilie Mor said it considered the move path-breaking, especially during this post-pandemic time when the economic scenario was bad and every stakeholder is bearing the brunt without any respite.

Recalling that it had time and again apprised the government through representations and during meetings with State government officials on the urgent need for implementation of the Act, which was enacted by Parliament way back in 2002, CNCCI observed that Nagaland was now almost two decades behind in implementing the Act, without which there was bleak chance or no opportunity for fast growing community of first generation young business people and entrepreneurs in the State.

Lauding NLA for taking up this issue, the trade body further appealed to the government to constitute the committee at the earliest and take the issue forward on a priority basis and, if needed, even call a special session of the Assembly. Assuring full cooperation, the body said it was ready to give any input as the committee might require.

CNCCI also appealed to every stakeholder across the table to cooperate and understand the need for a policy change and reformation in the existing system regarding economy, land and banking sector of the State. It added that only then can the State move ahead with the changing dynamics and pave better ways and opportunities for entrepreneurs and younger generation, creating a sustainable ecosystem along the way.
