Community level awareness programme held in Kohima

 With an aim to reach out to about 1700 families including about 900 senior citizens, Dr. Vizolie Suokhrie, principal director of Health & Family Welfare, inaugurated a massive community driven outreach programme at L. Khel, Kohima village on Thursday.

Speaking at the launch programme, Dr. Vizolie Suokhrie mentioned that prime minister, Narendra Modi has initiated a community based mass awareness programme in India to unite in the fight against COVID-19. He exhorted the community leaders that season of cold and cough and of festival has approached and it was of utmost importance to follow hand hygiene, social distancing and mask wearing habits to control the spread of the pandemic.

Pastor of Baptist Revival Church, Rev. Keduokienyü Dzüvichü invoked God’s blessings upon the programme and the fight against the pandemic.

Chairman Lhisemia Council, Kohima village, Setuo Kelio, stated that for the greater good and safety of everyone irrespective of tribe, the council appealed to the public to follow directions issued by department of Health & Family Welfare.

President of Lhisemia Gazetted Officers Association, Dr. Menuosietuo Tseikha chaired the function and thanked Lhisemia Council for the stellar job it has done to protect its denizens, and the frontline workers who have sacrificed towards service to citizens of Kohima.

He also thanked Lhisemia Students’ Union for volunteering to take up social initiatives in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic and that it was paramount for the youths to rise up to this challenging situation.
