Congress sounds poll bugle in Manipur

AICC leaders camping in Imphal on Monday expressed strong confidence that Congress will return to power again in Manipur. 

The general elections to the state Assembly is due by early part of 2022.

Some AICC leaders including former Union minister Jairam Ramesh, who was recently appointed as election in-charge of Manipur and AICC in-charge of the state Bhakta Charan Das were camping in Imphal to chalk out election strategies of the party in the poll-bound state.

The leaders attended a felicitation of newly enrolled members of the MPCC held at Imphal Congress Bhavan on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhakta Charan Das expressed strong confidence that Congress will return to power again.

The general elections to the state Assembly is likely to be held in the early part of 2022 as the term of the current Assembly is due to end by March.

Das said, “Congress is going to have the upper hand in the coming elections and will form the next government in the state. It is very clear as people have fed up with the BJP’s administration both at the Centre and state.” People have now wanted Congress to return to power, he added.

Earlier, Jairam Ramesh said that Congress will return to power in the state with a clear majority after the 2022 elections. MPCC acting president, N Loken lambasted the ruling BJP for looking down upon the minorities across the country. 

The AICC leaders were thronging in the state in the last few days to chalk out election strategies. The leaders are likely to stay in Imphal till August 31 to have a series of meetings and discussions with Congress leaders over the upcoming elections in Manipur in 2022.
