ChangtongyaVolleyball Association (CVA) emerged as the champions of the 10th Phom Monyiu Open Volleyball championship 2021by defeating Seven Eleven Club Longleng in the final held on April 2 at local ground Longleng.

The four-day long championship was organized and sponsored by Longleng Town Students’ Union (LTSU). 

The closing ceremony was graced by vice president All Phom Gazetted Officers  Association (APGOA), C. Henow Phom as special guest. The champion team walked away with of Rs.60,000 along with trophy and citation and runners-up received Rs. 30,000 along with trophy and citation.

In the individual categories, Hentok Phom, Seven Eleven Club Longleng was named as the best spiker, Sari Lepzung of CVA as best setter, Maosunep of CVA as best libero, while Achen Phom of Seven Eleven Club Longleng was named as the best team coach and best manager award was won by Thetong Phom of Yongshei Students Union. 

H. Moiyau Phom of Hukphang Students Union was named as the player of the tournament and the best disciplined team award was won by Uphao Club Yongphang village. All together 10 teams participated in the tournament.    

Earlier, the special guest lauded the organizing committee and Longleng Town students’ Union for successfully hosting the tournament. 

She said sports was one of the important and highly regarded profession in today’s world as it creates unity and harmony in the society apart from keeping one’s physical fit and strong. 

She also said that sports has the power to change the world, power to unit people from far and near and can impart positive attitude to the youths and gives hopes and inspiration to achieve their goal in life. 

She further said by participating through such platform, the talent and skills of the youths are harnessed and can also display their potential at large extend which gives them amble opportunity and positivity in life to pursue. 

She also called upon the organizing committee and LTSU to work in unity and create coexistence even in the days.
