Cyclone ‘Yaas’: NE to experience heavy rainfall

Ahead of Cyclone Yaas predicted to hit the East coast of India on May 26, the National Weather Forecasting Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warning bulletin for thunderstorm, lightning and rains for East and North East India over the next two days.

IMD said, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) very likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, Kerala, Mahe & Lakshadweep.

India Meteorological Department’s regional met centre in Guwahati has issued thunderstorm warnings over most parts of Assam. Further, parts of Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Nagaland will also be affected by isolated heavy rainfall in this forecast period.
