The Dimapur Bengali Students’ Union (DBSU) has strongly condemns the incident at Lawsohtun, Shillong, Meghalaya on July 3 where five youths belonging to the Bengali community were brutally assaulted by a group of 20 miscreants.

The release by DBSU media cell stated that, according to the police, the five boys had come to play basketball at Lawsohtun block VI for the last two weeks when the miscreants appeared and assaulted them with iron rods, sticks, and bamboos.

The union stated it is saddened to hear about the incident and appeals to the CM Conrad Sangma and Govt. of Meghalaya to take stringent actions against those involved in the brutality. DBSU further appealed to everyone in this time of medical emergency to “stay united and fight against our common enemy instead of against each other.”
