Dimapur Deputy Commissioner (DC), Rajesh Soundararajan, on Thursday delivered a motivational message to UPSC and NPSC aspirants, who are undergoing coaching at the GS Foundation course organised by Western Sumi Students Union (WSSU).

Addressing the candidates, the DC, who was a mechanical engineer by profession, spoke of how and what motivated him to pursue job as a civil servant.

Sharing his past stories, he stated that he was very much motivated by government officials’ power and responsibility in performing their duties for the general public.

The DC urged the candidates to have a set goal when they are in late 20s, for which he said that it was very much difficult to get back to track if they did not have a specific goal by the time they reached their late 30s.

Stressing on the need to believe in oneself, he challenged them to believe in themselves, saying that if one did not believe in itself, one would not be able to perform or execute his 100% capability, even under the best tutors and hard work.

Soundararajan maintained that everyone had the mentality that someone from better city or college had more chances as compared to them, and reiterated that this thought only dragged them down, hampering their career and self-confident. “The only person who can drag you back is you”, the DC maintained, adding that the first thing to become someone in life was to start believing in oneself.

He further stated that when one believes in itself, one would always outperform their limits and bars, set by themselves.
