DC Kohima Launches ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ campaign

Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign aimed at identifying the most vulnerable in terms of substance and alcohol abuse was formally launched by the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima  and chairman of Nasha Mukt Bharat Kohima, Mohammed Ali Shihab for Kohima district at his office chamber October 29. 

According to a DIPR report, the DC who launched the campaign said Nasha Mukt Bharat Annual Action Plan 2020-2021 was prepared by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment and will be implemented in 272 districts identified as most vulnerable in terms of substance and alcohol abuse.

Three districts from Nagaland, namely; Kohima, Dimapur and Mon district were listed based on inputs received from Narcotics Control Bureau and the findings of the comprehensive national survey done by the Ministry. 

The deputy commissioner informed that the District Level Committee has been entrusted with the  formulation and implementation of the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign in the respective districts. In this regard, he called for proper coordination to take forward campaign activities successfully and also asked concerned officials to work out action plan for the district and submit it to the State Nodal Officers at the earliest for further implementation of the programme.

Elaborating on the various functions of the committee, the DC suggested aggressive sensitisation programme on the campaign is required to reach out all the educational institutions, universities and even at community levels. 

The deputy commissioner also emphasized on devising a social media strategy for district campaigns and implement the same, while also stressing on the need for collective efforts of all implementing agencies for the success of the campaign. ADC Kohima, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa; District Welfare Officer, Akali Sema; Child Development Project Officer Kohima, Hebou Rio; SA Neikesonuo from Social Welfare Department along with other members were also present during the launch.
