Dimapur Meetei Council condoles demise of magistrate

Dimapur Meetei Council (DMC) has expressed shock at the sudden demise of Ahongbam Bemthoi Chanu , ACS Officer, who was posted at the bokajan sub-division of Karbi Anglong district as an Asst. Commissioner cum executive magistrate, passed away on December15 at Nikos Hospital, Dimapur due to her brief illness of abdomen pain initially, followed by her deteriorating conditions and multiple organs failure.

A press release by Dimapur Meetei Council Information Secretary cum Treasurer Prem Thongbam stated that  Ahongbam Bemthoi Chanu was the first Meetei lady among the three meetei ladies who passed in 59 Rank APSC Combined Competitive Exam from Assam  in the year 2015-2016 to become ACS Officer, who had her primary school education in Nagaland at the time of her father's active service in Nagaland.

The release stated that during her school and college days, she served as an active activist and fought many fights for the right of student’s community under the organization "Progressive Students Alliance of Barak Valley HQ Lakhipur-Assam".

The Dimapur Meetei Council on behalf of her family also expressed gratitude to the district administrations of Karbi Anglong, Assam and Dimapur, Nagaland and the Bokajan MLA Dr. NumalMomin and several social organizations and Nikos Hospital Doctors and team.
