Diphupar SC clinch DDL trophy

Diphupar Sporting Club (DSC) emerged as the winner of the Ayida Honda Dimapur Division League (DDL) by defeating its rivals Chekiye United (CKU) 5-4 in a tie-breaker after both the teams failed to score during the final match on Friday at DDSC stadium.
With both teams winning one and losing one against each other earlier in the league matches, the clubs locked horns for the final. Both teams tried its best to get the opening goal for the team on the first half; however none succeeded, with very few shots on target. CKU maintained much better ball possession during the first half, however, in the second half, DSC fought back with both teams acquiring almost equal ball possession. 
With both teams unable to score in the total 80 minutes, the match was taken into a tie-breaker. 
James Kithan, the goal keeper of DSC gave a marvellous winning saved on the 4th shot by the rival CKU. 
The final match of DDL at Dimapur District Sports Complex (DDSC) was graced by advisor, Power, H Tovihoto Ayemi as the chief guest. 
Addressing the gathering before the match, Ayemi acknowledged the five young professionals, Inonito Ghukhui Zhimomi, Tove Hokato Zhimomi, Hitova Ayemi, Kevilhulie Zakiesato and Wonito Zhimomi, who were also the organisers of DDL. He lauded the organiser for providing better platform to the football lovers of Dimapur.  
Ayemi further maintained that Nagas are blessed with inborn talent; however people often fail to polish themselves in whatever fields they are. He urged the gathering to polish, to put in extra effort, sheer determination, and to be more sincere and disciplined. “The rest we have it in us”, he added. 
The champions DSC walked away with a cash price of 1 lakh and the winning trophy and medals, while the runners-up CKU received an amount of Rs. 50,000 with medals. 
It may be noted that a total of 90 matches were played against 10 teams throughout the tournament.
