DLSAs conduct various programmes across state

District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) conducted legal awareness programmes across respective districts.

DLSA Dimapur: Dimapur District Legal Services Authorities in collaboration with ICFAI University Nagaland organised a webinar on legal awareness on October 8. Address on behalf of ICFAI University was delivered by academic coordinator, Rupanka Bhuyan. 

CJM & secretary DDLSA, Somet C Chang spoke on the topic “legal services and its role”. She stated that legal services act 1987 was enacted to provide free legal aid and legal awareness. 

She also stated the category of people entitled for free legal aid and the role played by legal services authority. 

Panel lawyer, Sentimenla spoke on the topic “basic legal rights”. She spoke about the rights of women, right to file FIR and various topics on an individual’s right. Retainer lawyer, DDLSA, Sonile Seb spoke on the topic “consumer protection act 2019” and stated that basic aim of CPA 2019 was to save rights of the consumer by establishing authorities for timely and effective administration of consumer disputes.

Meanwhile, principal district & sessions judge and chairperson, DDLSA, Y Longkumer laid emphasis on certain topics like domestic violence act, consumer’s right, cyber law, employees right, basic legal rights and on the civil and criminal laws.

The webinar was attended by panel lawyers, PLVs of DDLSA and students, faculty and staff of ICFAI University. The programme was hosted by project assistant, DDLSA, Sangto Longchar.

DLSA Mon: Mon District Legal Services Authorities organized essay competition on the topic “fundamental duties” on October 12. 

First position was awarded to Ngepmei H Konyak, Green Valley High School, second position was awarded to Y Hinglong Konyak, Green Valley High School, and third went to Tingpon Konyak, Sacred Heart School. NJS, district & session judge-cum-chairman DLSA Mon, Inalo Zhimomi handed over the cash prizes.

DLSA Peren: Peren district administration celebrated 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2 in collaboration with different departments. 

On behalf of Peren District Legal Services Authorities, retainer lawyer, Asungbe spoke on women rights, to protect girl child and highlighted the working of Peren DLSA in various sphere.

DLSA Wokha: Wokha District Legal Services Authorities identified construction workers and helped them in preparation of document applications by panel lawyer WDLSA, adv. Renbonthung Tsanglao, district project assistant, adv. Shanchobeni P Lotha, case worker OSC Wokha, Thungbeni Kikon and was forwarded by JMFC/ secretary WDLSA, Khrievono Seletsu to get registered under Nagaland building and other construction  workers scheme.
