Principal director School Education, Shanavas C has informed that many people with vested interest were applying for scholarship under fictitious name which was a serious crime.

According to DIPR report, department of School Education therefore once again requested the institute nodal officers to be cautious while verifying the students application form and the INOs responsible for the 1st level verification are required to maintain copies of supporting documents prescribed by the ministry year-wise and produce the physical record to the DNO/SNO as and when required.

INOs will maintain the records separately for the applicants under fresh and renewal categories respectively and the records will be retained by the school for at least 5 years. INOs must not share the user ID and password of the institute with anyone and surrender them to the head of institute when they leave school.

In case a student has not submitted any document or has not submitted the required number of documents the INO may mark the app ration as “defective” so as to provide another opportunity to the genuine applicant to rectify the mistake.

Department also informed that the ministry has extended the national scholarship portal (NSP) for applying online scholarships for 2020-21 and the following actions have been initiated/decided by the ministry: Last date for submission of online applications by the students on December 31; Last date for first level (institute) verification on January 15, 2021 and last date for second level (district) verification on January 31, 2021.  Students have been advised to carefully read the guidelines for registration on national scholarship portal.
