Dr. H.R. Lotha award conferred to meritorious student

The late Dr. H.R Lotha, class X meritorious award programme was held at Wokha Village Baptist Church (WVBC) on Sunday.

The meritorious award, which was to encourage and motivate the students of Wokha Village, was held every year, where the family of late Dr. H.R. Lotha acknowledged a meritorious student of class X. 

This year, the award was bagged by Chumreno Z Erie. She received a certificate and cash amount of Rs. 7,000. 

The award was handed over by Mhabeni, daughter of late Dr H.R Lotha. Wokha village Baptist church also awarded a citation to Chumreno Z Erie.

On the occasion, Mhabeni extended gratitude to the members of Wokha Village for helping her father financially in his earlier days while studying MBBS in Bangalore.

A special devotional service was also conducted to congratulate the successful candidates of class X and XII with a prayer service for the students.

It may be noted that late Dr. H.R Lotha was the first MBBS doctor and the first gazette officer from Wokha Village. 

Dr. H.R Lotha passed away on November 20, 1995 while serving as Civil Surgeon (now known as CMO), where he is survived by a daughter and five sons.
