Entrepreneurship Development Centre launched in Kiphire

Deputy commissioner (DC) Kiphire, T Wati Aier inaugurated the Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Kiphire in the presence of joint director industries & commerce, Youth Net Kohima, DEO and staff of GHSS on December 7.

According to DIPR report, the DC in his speech encouraged the students to make best use of the centre and to set education as the first priority in their lives.

He said that skill development was a process of identification of skill gaps in youth and providing training and employment benefits to them.

In this regard, so he opined that EDC would benefit the students and as unemployed people, therefore, he requested them to use it wisely.

Meanwhile, joint director, industries & commerce, Lipongse Sangtam lamented that the people in the state did not know what entrepreneurship was about.

He said that many people only wanted to start their businesses on a large scale and failed.

Sangtam urged all the students to take it as a privilege since the department would assist them financially in every aspect.

Later, overview of EDC was done by Youth Net Kohima. The program was led by S. Imtinaro. It may be mentioned that the EDC is a hands-on entrepreneurship mindset programme which gives out opportunity to develop essential mindset and skills through the experience of doing real business.
