Kekhriesilie Rio, the first equestrian from the Northeast region and also the first from the region to be selected for Equestrian Indian National Team to represent India at the International level has been ranked second in the World Ranking (Category A) by Federation International Equestrian (FEI).

The world ranking category results 2020– Category A, Category B, Category C and Overall Team ranking, was released by FEI on January 7.  In overall team rankings, Indian Team comprising of Kekhriesilie Rio, Sehaj Singh Virk and Apurva Dabhade was ranked in third position behind South Africa and Bermuda. 

With this feat, the 20-year old from Touphema village Nagaland, son of Zhaleo Rio, MLA and advisor, has became the first ever Indian to achieve the highest ranking till today. Kekhriesilie riding Claudettee achieved his ranking out of the 47 worldwide competitors. 

In the recently held FEI World Show Jumping Challenge, Kekhriesilie emerged as the winner in Category A (130cm) in India and in the Asian zone. With the cumulative score all round the world released, Kekhriesilie has been ranked in second position, source informed Nagaland Post. 

It may be noted that the FEI World Show Jumping Challenge is held around the world every year, where the competition is divided into three categories, Category A, B and C. The competition takes place across three days and the winner is adjudged at the end of the third day on the basis of least penalty and fastest time.
