Er. Zale interacts with Rijiju via video conferencing

Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports, Er. Zale Neikha along with the Secretary and Director of YRS department on Wednesday attended the video conference of Ministers in-charge of Youth Affairs and Sports chaired by Union Sports Minister, Kiren Rijiju. 

The advisor highlighted the department activities taken during the Covid-19 lockdown.  
He informed that the State coaches have been imparting online training to the students through whatsapp videos and other online forms of communication. Also, the coaches have undergone online training organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for different disciplines like football, basketball, boxing, atheletics. 
The department has participated in spreading basic sports training and inspirational messages from prominent sportspersons to the general public through whatsapp and other online medium. 
2662 volunteers from Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), National Youth Volunteers (NYS), Disaster Volunteers and Youth Volunteers were assigned to respective district administrations and their services were utilized in the fight against COVID-19 in areas of food & material distribution, mask distribution, sanitization in public areas with NDRF, sensitization on stigma and discrimination of frontline workers, promotion of Aarogya Setup App etc. 
National Service Scheme (NSS) with a strength of 23 colleges and 340 volunteers took part in assisting the civil administrations in their respective districts. The NCC and Bharat Scouts & Guides also participated in the effort and assisted the district administrations.
The Union Minister stressed on the importance of staying fit during this lockdown and suggested to take measures to stay fit, specially to all the players. 
The advisor informed that, in line with the ‘Fit India Movement’, the department will introduce fitness zones specially for which the department will work out the modalities. The advisor stated that the department is keen to start the activities like District Level Catch them Young Tournament, Inter-District/State Level Catch Them Young Department and Dr.T. Ao Inter-District Football Championship etc.  The department intends to slowly start activating by concentrating on contactless sports and follow strict safety protocols as laid out by the health authorities. 
The advisor also informed that the department has initiated the process of identification for opening of Khelo India Centres (KIC) at the District Level.
