Excavator stolen from Assam recovered in Nagaland

A team of Karbi Anglong police have successfully recovered a excavator two years after it was reported stolen from the Khatkhati area along the interstate Assam-Nagaland border in East Karbi Anglong on Thursday.

As per reports, the excavator machine was sent on rent from Jharkhand for earth filling works in Nagaland. However, a gang stole it from the operator on the pretext of test driving the machine after it reached Lahorijan area of Assam-Nagaland border back in 2019. The operator later approached the Khatkhati police and formally filed a complaint about the theft. Since then, the Khatkhati police have been investigating the matter untill recently it located the stolen machine in a construction site at Zunheboto district in Nagaland.

Meanwhile, the police team with help of its Nagaland counterpart reached the location and successfully retrieved the stolen machine in an abandoned state. No arrest was made in connection. Khatkhati OC Mwblik Brahma lauded the assistance provided by Nagaland police in receiving the stolen machine.
